JHFOSTER Acquires the Distribution Business of Motion Tech Automation
Monday, December 14, 2020 – JHFOSTER Minnesota, Inc. (JHFOSTER) announced today that it acquired the distribution business of Motion Tech Automation (MTA) in Oakdale, Minnesota. This acquisition of Motion Tech Distribution (MTD) expands JHFOSTER’s product offerings and enhances the organization with an increased ability to more broadly serve customers and compete in the automation, robotics and compressed air marketplace.
JHFOSTER provides compressed air systems and automation solutions collectively, allowing a unique collaboration with both the supply and demand sides of compressed air systems while also offering value-added engineering, design services, installation and warranty expertise, and continued support from certified technicians after the sale.
Through the merger, customers will experience a more diversified product portfolio with access to the best automation, robotics and compressed air technology on the market today. Additionally, more vendor partnerships will provide the right solutions for customer applications. With the addition of the MTD team from their distribution business, JHFOSTER expands their existing highly-experienced team committed to providing the best customer service experience and product knowledge.

JHFOSTER was purchased by High Road Capital Partners in May of 2019, and is committed to implementing organic and acquisitive growth strategies that uniquely enhance the company in its served geographies. JHFOSTER will continue operations in Eagan, Minnesota, with an advanced robotics design and training facility and UL 508A-certified control panel shop also in Eagan, and offices in Hiawatha, Iowa and Fargo, North Dakota. In addition to a full mobile service team with substantial stock of inventory serving Minnesota, Western Wisconsin, Iowa and the Dakotas.
MTA started in 1987 as a manufacturing representative of motion control technology and has grown into a full-service motion control leader. They will maintain their brand and continue business with a focus on manufacturing, but have sold their distribution business to JHFOSTER Minnesota.
