Family Fun with Robotics
John Henry Foster (JHF) participated in the annual Robot Day competition sponsored by The Works Museum on April 14th held in Bloomington, MN. Each April, the Museum hosts a RoboWeek designed to inspire students in STEM-related fields and to create public awareness regarding the strength and importance of the U.S. robotics industry and the social and cultural impact that robotics will have on the future.
JHF brought two robotic displays with them.
One where kids try their luck being faster than the “candy-grabbing” actuator robot which retracts along with the candy by using a sensor when their hands get too close;
and the other display in which students could push a color-coded button corresponding to can koozies of the same color. The robot arm would pick up the specified color koozie and present it to the student to take home with them.
Curious kids and robot enthusiasts of all ages learned about robots, discovered how robots are used in a variety of businesses, saw demos and interacted with robotics experts, watched student-build robots complete missions and challenges, and much more. It was an amazing day full of robots, drones and robotics experience!
