(Eagan, Minnesota) – Thousands of our neighbors struggle to find the money and transportation necessary to access the healthy foods their families need. The Open Door’s Mobile Pantry program continues to grow and find innovative ways of making fresh, nutritious food available for children, seniors and adults. They have already served 39% more households in 2018 and still has a waiting list for their mobile fleet to bring food to food insecure neighborhoods.
Four lucky employees – Janny Hout, Curt Crouse, Tonia Coubal and Andrew Baca from John Henry Foster (and their guests) attended the 7th Annual OctoberZest event with all proceeds benefitting The Open Door. The night included sampling food from local restaurants, a wide range of local craft beers, live music and exciting raffles.
The event was not only fun, but a great place to meet others about needs that are developing in our surrounding communities and a great opportunity to try various foods and beverages from vendors right in Dakota County.
“I really enjoyed the many varieties of foods on hand to sample.” said Janny Hout, JHFoster’s Service Billing Administrator. “I was surprised to find out that the people serving the food and beverages were volunteers and not actually food vendor workers. There are so many volunteers that are needed to make events like these happen.”
“The food and beverages were awesome.” said Curt Crouse, JHFoster’s Network Adminstrator. “I found out that the funds for the mobile pantry were donated by Minnwest Bank, which is a sponsor of The Open Door.”
John Henry Foster is proud to be a part of this program as an annual partner to show support for this growing need and the importance of finding new ways to make healthy food easier to get for those who need it. The Open Door continues to make a difference and impact lives.
