For the second time this year, six more employees from John Henry Foster (JHF) volunteered two hours of their workday to fill bags of food at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC). The team packed 73 boxes, filled 15,768 bags of food and fed 43 kids for a year.
“It’s been hard to find time to participate in volunteer activities with all of life’s other obligations (and kids) so I appreciate JHF giving me the time during my workday to take part,” said Ryan Koepsell, JHF’s Mechanical Engineer.
JHF plans to send six employees every quarter to FMSC this year to give back. The list of eager volunteers continues to grow and has been filled since early January.
“I like to help and give to others. I can’t afford to do it with money so I do it with my time. I’m so amazed at the organization at FMSC and how much food can be packed in such little time. I had fun too, and will probably do it again on my own,” said Pam Darsow, Accounting Assistant.
Linda Halvorson, JHF’s receptionist, wanted to volunteer because, “I wanted to give back to those who really need help. It also gave me a chance to get to know a little bit about some fellow employees that I don’t get to see on a daily basis.”
“The video – before we started packing the food – impacted me,” explained Cheryl Schultz, Parts Manager. “To give back to those who really need help, it was heartwarming to see the effects this has on children and how well they do with just this small nutritious meal.”
JHF will be back in July for more! Stay tuned.
