Summary:

 

The Service Coordinator handles scheduling of customer compressed air system maintenance and repairs, via phone or email. These systems consist of air compressors, blowers and vacuum pumps.  This position requires good organizational skills, with the ability to work closely with customers to resolve issues in a timely manner; exceeding customer expectations and increasing overall customer satisfaction.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with customers, technicians and suppliers via phone and email to schedule service calls and/or assist in resolving compressed air issues.
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure to resolve issues.
  • Work effectively with customers to ensure call meets/exceeds customer expectations – willing to go the “extra mile”.
  • Ability to quickly resource information/individuals when needing assistance to complete repair.
  • Proactively promotes John Henry Foster products/parts and services.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in a related field preferred.

IT Support Specialist

Summary:

JHFoster is looking for a student intern with exceptional customer service skills, solid troubleshooting skills, ability to work well in a team environment, excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to work under minimal supervision.

This internship offers practical work experience, an introduction to Windows desktop support and an opportunity to gain experience with the technical operations of a multi-faceted organization. This internship will involve challenging opportunities, real technical projects, and interaction with staff. The Information Technology Support Specialist will provide direct technical assistance and support to JHFoster staff for network, hardware and software issues.  Duties include installing and maintaining computer systems including software and hardware on desktops and laptops, resolving internet and network access issues (both wired and wireless), providing network printer support, meeting with staff to provide one-on-one technical assistance as needed/requested, providing training to staff on software and hardware use, determining causes of computer/software/network malfunctions through evaluation and testing and resolution via modifications, repair, or external support assistance.

This is a continuous appointment, initially lasting up to 6 months with the potential to go beyond that.  Increased summer hours may be available.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Respond to user requests for service, troubleshoot problems and help develop solutions.
  • Support PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, and application software.
  • Perform minor repairs to equipment and arrange for other servicing needs.
  • Identify and report system issues to vendors. Monitor and test resolution of those issues sent to vendors.
  • Monitor antivirus software and updates and repair computers infected with spyware, adware and/or viruses.
  • Monitor backup systems and procedures to ensure data security.
  • Record activities, solutions and other responses to request for service.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory records and documentation for equipment.
  • Contribute to JHFoster technical documentation and participate in policy, procedure, and standards development.
  • Consult with vendors, perform research and evaluate products to assist in the selection and purchase of equipment and installation or upgrade of systems.
  • Assist users in determining appropriate software solutions to meet needs.
  • Develop and provide user training for basic hardware and software use.
  • Provide backup technical support for network including router, firewall, and wireless access point.
  • Maintains open communication and positive working relationship with staff.
  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned.

 Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have experience with Windows 7/10 in a technical support environment. Experience with Windows Server 2012 is a plus.
  • Applicants must also have experience supporting recent versions of Microsoft Office Applications, including Office 2016.
  • Experience with networking technologies and printer support is preferred.
  • Applicants must have awareness of the PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, and application software.
  • Applicant must have awareness of the PC industry’s current and emerging technology trends and direction, as well as a keen interest in computer-based information systems and technology. Interested applicants should possess excellent analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems.
  • Applicants should have the ability to research and understand technical documentation, and an understanding of how to apply various technical resources.
  • Applicants should have the ability to perform tasks such as operating systems and application software installations and upgrades, as well as virus protection and eradication.
  • Minimum of six months paid or volunteer work experience with computer desktop support in a networked environment for a small to mid-sized organization.
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 10-16 hours per week.
  • Must be available and willing to commit at least six (6) months initially for an internship.
  • Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate level degree in a business, communications or computer related field.

Mechanical Engineer

General Purpose of the Job:

Assist JHFoster customers and prospective customers in their efforts to improve the effectiveness/efficiency, operation and reliability of their entire compressed air systems through state-of-the-art audit procedures.  Strong knowledge of the compressed air industry including products, monitoring capability and application techniques.  Maximize capital equipment solutions for clients; creating seamless integration between design, test, maintenance, training and other technical support.  Maximize system performance, lowering operational costs and increasing system reliability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Improving overall energy efficiencies.
  • Investigate compressed air equipment deficiencies providing solutions or design modifications to improve overall system.
  • Work with Account Managers to solicit new audit business resulting in improved cost efficiencies for customers and increased revenue to JHF.
  • Complex problem-solving skills with ability to evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Knowledge of design techniques including technical plans, blueprints and drawings.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Qualifications, Skills and Education:

  • Certified Mechanical Engineer and 1+ year mechanical engineering experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs to maximize manufacturing.
  • Skills in mechanical , design, production processing, complex problem solving and critical thinking using logic and reasoning to identify strengths, weaknesses and alternative solutions required.

Automation Specialist

General Purpose of the Job:

John Henry Foster (Eagan, Minnesota) is hiring an Automation Specialist. This position will have an emphasis on creating and developing on-going business relationships with our customers. Additionally, this position will focus on providing excellent customer service including; technical support, pricing, processing customer orders via phone, fax and email, expediting customer orders, follow-up on leads, crossing over product to increase automation business, as well as assisting our Account Managers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a contact for JHF product and pricing information
  • Work with list of target accounts along with other customer inquiries; supporting on-going communications and sales
  • Focus on increased “add-on” business with customers calling in; increasing revenue per call/per customer
  • Knowledgeable on all JHF products, parts and services including strong technical background on all automation product offerings
  • Good understanding of competition and offerings
  • Ability to successfully sell the JHF “value-add” proposition and cross over product on an as-needed basis
  • Build and maintain excellent customer relations (internal and external)
  • Recognize customer concerns; addressing proactively

Controls/Automation Engineer

Summary:

JH Foster is a UL 508A & 698A panel shop seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our rapidly growing organization. This position will assist customers in achieving their safety, quality, productivity and automation needs. Job duties will include generating layouts, bills of materials, and schematics using AutoCAD. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of PLC and HMI programming and strong problem-solving skills. In this position you will also be working with a range of industrial robots. Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the design, development and implementation of electrical control systems
  • Responsible for PLC, HMI, VFD programming and modifications

Electrical Panel Assembly Specialist

Summary:

This position will work closely with our Automation Department to interface electrical systems with pneumatic circuits for small machinery.  This position requires a highly self-motivated individual with the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure to build and maintain customer expectations both internal and external.  Ability to work as a team to independently accomplish department goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Measure, layout and use hand and power tools to cut control panel enclosure holes to mount devices
  • Layout and install electrical components in control panel enclosures and wire them to the schematics provided.
  • Label all wire circuits per electrical schematics
  • Perform tasks with safe and proper use of hand and power tools
  • Maintain a safe, clean and well-organized work environment
  • Ability to look for ways to improve and promote quality
  • Good organizational ability and detail orientated

Qualifications:

  • High degree of mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to read electrical schematics required
  • Wiring experience required

Installation & Piping Specialist

Summary:

The Installation and Piping Specialist will work on-site at customer locations to install compressed air and coolant piping. Mechanical background is helpful but will train as needed; able to diagnose and solve problems on a variety of piping systems. Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to work closely with customers to resolve issues in a timely manner; exceeding customer expectations and increasing overall customer satisfaction.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Strong work ethic
  • Communicate effectively with customers/supervisors to ensure proper installation of all equipment and piping projects
  • Ability to multi-task and work to resolve issues to meet project deadlines
  • Work with customer to ensure calls meet customer expectations

  • Previous experience with maintenance, installation, plumbing and/or a technician is helpful.
