“For it is in giving that we receive.” St. Francis of Assisi

JHFoster is passionate about making a difference in our local community and proud to be an annual sponsor of The Open Door with a total donation this year of $10,000! The annual partnership program allows the Open Door’s most ardent supporters to simplify their giving in a meaningful and consistent way, while knowing they are making a difference in their local community.

Also, throughout the year, JHFoster employees have the opportunity to attend The Open Door’s sponsored events such as Empty Bowls which provides different soups and chili tastings and OctoberZest which includes sampling food from local restaurants, a wide range of local craft beers, live music and exciting raffles.

Thousands of our neighbors struggle to find the money and transportation necessary to access the healthy foods their families need. The Open Door’s Mobile Pantry program continues to grow and find innovative ways of making fresh, nutritious food available for children, seniors and adults. It now travels to 20 sites across Dakota County, serving nearly twice as many people in 2018 as it did the previous year. John Henry Foster is proud to be a part of this program as an annual partner to show support for this growing need and the importance of finding new ways to make healthy food easier to get for those who need it. The Open Door continues to make a difference and impact lives.

ABOUT THE OPEN DOOR

The Open Door is a hunger relief organization dedicated to ending local hunger through access to healthy food. Through its collective programs, The Open Door addresses hunger by serving more than 6,000 Dakota County residents each month, and distributes over 1 million pounds of food annually, 70% of which is fresh and/or perishable.  Clients are able to access healthy food choices through a fixed-site food pantry in Eagan, multiple Mobile Pantry sites, the Mobile Lunchbox, and the Garden to Table program. In addition, they provide Family Advocacy and Community resource referrals that link families to social service agencies.
