Making the Holidays Great!
For the 8th year in a row, John Henry Foster adopted 2 families and 2 seniors this season through Neighbors Inc. in their Love-Your-Neighbor Holiday Program.
Neighbors’ Love-Your-Neighbor Holiday Program is a unique opportunity to share in a meaningful way. It supplements the resources of families whose holiday might otherwise be meager and serves as a clearinghouse, bringing together the generosity of the community and directing it in an orderly way to assist area families. Love Your Neighbor is made possible by community support and thousands of volunteer hours. The program starts October 24 and responds to the needs of the season with new toys and clothing for children and seniors. As a community-based program, all gifts remain in the community to brighten the holiday of our neighbors.
Employees at JHFoster are assigned a specific family for which you will shop, and are given each person’s first name, age, gender, clothing size and gift suggestions. Even though employees don’t actually meet the family involved, many have found this to be a particularly personal and meaningful way of sharing the holidays. The gifts from JHFoster were delivered Tuesday, Dec. 13.
“This is such awesome organization that helps a lot of people throughout the year, and this program helps to make Christmas possible for these families,” says Bobbie Halling, John Henry Foster’s Credit Administrator.
Neighbors is a non-profit, social-service agency providing emergency assistance and supportive assistance programs to low-income community members in the northern Dakota County communities of Inver Grove Heights, South St. Paul, West St. Paul, Mendota Heights, Mendota, Sunfish Lake and Lilydale. Neighbors was established by local churches in 1972 and relies on 1,650 volunteers to provide almost all the services.
