Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign

John Henry Foster was able to add on 154 pounds of food and most wanted items for Neighbors Inc. and were excited to help another food shelf in our community.

The South St. Paul Mayor’s Youth Task Force had its annual community-wide food drive for Neighbors Inc. Once again, the numeric goal was the same as the city’s ZIP code — 55,075 pounds of nonperishable food items. Based in South St. Paul, Neighbors distributed close to 1 million pounds of food to 14,131 families and seniors last year in northern Dakota County.

Dawn Ryan, one of John Henry Foster’s Capital Sales Support team members, said, “Neighbors, Inc. does a wonderful job helping the people in our community who really need it the most, and that need is always increasing. They also have a lot of other programs besides the food shelf and the Adopt a Family/Senior programs that we are already familiar with. I like to help those who help others.”

In 2016, Neighbor’s food shelf provided 704,000 lbs of food to more than 14,000 people in northern Dakota County. Nearly 39 percent of Neighbors’s clients were under the age of 18.

Neighbors is a non-profit, social-service agency providing emergency assistance and supportive assistance programs to low-income community members in the northern Dakota County communities of Inver Grove Heights, South St. Paul, West St. Paul, Mendota Heights, Mendota, Sunfish Lake and Lilydale.
